“Heaven is under our feet as well as above our heads.”
Heaven! It is a non-invasive, tactile, holistic and complimentary therapy. It can be traced back to ancient origins in Egypt and China around 2300 BC. Pressure is applied to the feet, face and ears with specific thumb, finger and hand techniques. It is based on a system of zones and reflex areas that reflect the whole of the body through your feet or face.
By stimulating the zones and reflex areas it works towards bringing harmony back into balance in the mind, body and emotions. All that is involved in a treatment are my hands, your feet, face and ears. Different massage pressures are applied to these reflex points.
The reflex points can be likened to a map to the rest of the body. By stimulating a reflex in your foot or face, there will be a response in that corresponding part of your body.
Facial reflexology is a therapeutic treatment in which stimulation of zones and points on the face are massaged to alleviate health conditions in other parts of the body.
It is a new generation reflex therapy that combines ancient complimentary therapies: Chinese energy meridians and acupuncture points; Vietnamese and Andean tribal body maps; with modern neuro-anatomy. It addresses health imbalances and stimulates the healing process within the individual using the balancing properties of the above three therapies.
This system of facial reflexology was devised by a Danish reflexologist, Lone Sorensen. A multi-disciplinary therapist, she has devoted over 30 years to developing ways to combine these therapies to help heal the individual on all levels, physically and mentally.
Around 75% of illness and disease is a result of stress. Relaxation is the key to unlocking stress and tension in the body.
Getting the body to relax through reflexology has many profound and lasting benefits.
Important “me time” – too often a modern western life is very busy
Better nerve and blood flow
Improved circulation of nutrients and oxygen to the body’s cells
Unblocks and improves the flow of the natural energy within your body and brings about a state of wellbeing
Stephanie will ask questions about your health and lifestyle so she can devise a treatment plan for you. Possible reactions after the treatment will be explained. The pressure during the treatment will be adjusted according to your sensitivity. To gain the most from the treatment it is best to wear loose fitting trousers.
Regardless of the state of your health, reflexology can benefit everyone. For the full therapeutic benefit a five-treatment package is recommended to start with.
You will feel calmer, more relaxed and have an improved sense of wellbeing. Reflexology provides you with a drug-free alternative to maintaining your mental, physical and emotional wellbeing. It is important to invest time in taking care of yourself.
Stephanie’s aim is to replenish her clients’ energy levels so they leave her clinic ‘‘floating’’. Her treatments are an opportunity to transform yourself “a little or a lot” and bring balance back to the body, mind and spirit.
